We're Back!

Big candy bar.....little boy.

Mommy won the nap battle......finally.

"Grrrrrr!"

On the ride home. Eating a banana while watching Horton Hears A Who. Yes, that's Daisy. Jason does NOT want to talk about it.

What a weekend it was! We're happy to be home, and will probably be sleeping this off for a week or two. Key Club Convention always goes down as one of the most tiring weekends of the year for us, but add Joshua into the mix, and we're officially wiped out.

I must start by giving credit where it is due. TO MY MOM! We would not have been able to make this all work this weekend without my mom's help. Seriously. I have no idea how to appropriately thank her for her time, the miles on her shoes, the patience, the Nana-ness that was the secret to this weekend...but truly, we could not have done it without her. While Jason and I were doing the "convention things" that we do (tabulating award winners, counting money, working on problem solving at the convention office, helping to get people checked in, setting up for the big general sessions, etc. Joshua could play with Nana. If he didn't want to be a part of the official activities, mom would take him into the hotel lobby to explore or play, or even take him upstairs to our room so that he could get a bath, get ready for bed, etc. It was wonderful to have an extra set of hands (and legs) to keep him occupied and happy.

We snuck out for a while on Saturday morning to get my Carters fix at the outlets. I came home with a bunch of pretty cute things for Joshua (and I snuck in a few things for my favorite little lady as well...Lib, wait till you see!). We also decided to take a trip to Chocolate World while we were out as well, and Joshua quite enjoyed the singing cows again. He was disappointed when the ride was over. We were out just long enough to enjoy some warm spring air and sunshine...and just long enough to wish we were at home riding bikes and playing outside all day long.

Joshua pretty much charmed the pants off of everyone he met this weekend- from hotel staff to Key Club advisors alike. He made such good friends with one of the hotel banquet servers that he brought him a teddy bear during breakfast on Saturday. One of our fellow Kiwanis Committee members fell in love with him and his talking to the point where they could be found taking walks together to visit the bears or ride on the "slippery steps" (the escalators). He was talking up a storm with just about anyone who would listen and didn't seem intimidated by the large scale atmosphere in the least.

We spent all of yesterday afternoon recovering. Joshua had a monstrous nap in the afternoon that I had to wake him up from. Jason snoozed on the couch for a while, as did I after the unpacking and laundry had been done.

Key Club convention is a special remembering time for me, and I think it always will be, even after our involvement is done. I remember so fondly all of our experiences in high school that being a part of Key Club afforded us. I remember the convention in 2003 when Jason and I worked together and wound up together for good as a result. It was wonderful to be there as a family this weekend.

Music class tonight. Ultrasound on Thursday. Big things happening this week, folks!
